This week, 2 Dinar will begin its election coverage, profiling one candidate through a veteran’s eyes, every 10 days until the primaries start.
Our coverage will be different than most of the election commentary you will see or hear this year. We won’t talk about Democrats or Republicans, as we are loath to do that anywhere on the site. You won’t hear about red states or blue states, and you won’t be told who can win and who can’t.
We see one America. This is not an idealistic dream- it’s a reality that we live. In our line of work, we evaluate each other based on strength, skill, and character. We give no thought as to what state a soldier comes from or how much money his family makes. We eat the same food, sleep in the same dirt, and wear the same uniforms. When we are commissioned, promoted, or re-enlist, we take and retake oaths to the Constitution as its protectors. Serving in the US military lets you see one America, no matter where you come from. You live in it. You fight for it. Sometimes, you die for it.
Accordingly, our election coverage will reflect the One America philosophy we’ve come to understand and believe in. This country has been divided by politicians hording power and by special interests, and our government is now failing us because of this division. When you read about these candidates, make evaluations based on their voting records, their experiences, and their potentials to lead America-- not the money in their coffers, or the party that backs them.
I also encourage you to get your news from written sources and to turn off the television as soon as the post-debate coverage begins. Last night after the Democratic debate, I was surprised to see how easily the hired corporate media hacks were able to supplant into my head the notion that one candidate “won” the debate or the debate on a certain issue. I know which candidates’ views resonated with me and I don’t need an ex-politician stirring up advertising fees to change my mind for me. Neither do you.
